"It's For la gente: Cuba Beneath the Facade." (a documentary)

This documentary was more than a project; it was a personal journey. My second time in Cuba, I sought to understand the real Cuba through the eyes of its people. I yearned to feel life as they did, to experience their daily challenges, and to glimpse their dreams. As a person of African descent with ties to a Latino heritage, I was deeply impacted by the shared history present in Cuba. I saw myself as a part of the struggle, as a bridge between the past and the future. In this documentary, I unveil the dislocated reality of a nation that often remains hidden beneath the surface of postcard-perfect images and vintage 1950's cars. An eternal paradise of pleasure. But the truth is far more complex, far more compelling. The Cuban experience is one of resilience and depth of a people who seek to redefine their own destiny, past, present, and future. This documentary was created not just for the sake of art but to illuminate the path forward. I believe in the potential of sustainable tourism and educational programs to inspire progressive reforms and foster new conversations about our shared humanity. Through education, we endeavor to bring about the changes we seek in each other's lives. Join me in the heart of Cuba, where the reality is far more fascinating than the facade, and where the journey toward change is a collective endeavor. "It's for La gente: Cuba Beneath the Facade" is an invitation to discover a Cuba that is alive with dreams and struggles, to experience the depth of its history, and to be a part of the transformation that lies ahead.
