The Home of Sandra Babineaux: A Cinematic Portrait of Black Interior Design
Some of the best interior design isn’t in books—it’s found in the homes of everyday people. This cinematic portrait explores the home of Sandra Babineaux, a Black woman who has spent over 21 years crafting a space that reflects culture, history, and personal artistry. Born in 1949, Ms. Babineaux’s home in Houston, Texas, is a living archive—a space shaped by decades of love, life, and careful curation. Through this film, we experience her home as it is meant to be seen: through light, texture, and sound, allowing the space to speak for itself. This is the first in a visual series celebrating the unseen legacies of Black interior design. Watch, absorb, and let the space tell its story.
